BREAKING: Supreme Court doubles down on Citizens United

Just yesterday, the Supreme Court doubled down on the Citizens United decision – once again opening up the floodgates of corporate special interest money in our politics. I’m more committed than ever to passing a constitutional amendment to bring common-sense to our politics and fight back against these faceless, shadowy groups.

There’s no denying it: this is my campaign’s most important week so far.

In 2010, national Republicans and out-of-state interest groups organized by Karl Rove spent big trying to defeat me. But, thanks to your support, we sent them away empty-handed.

Unfortunately, they may be back for more in 2012 – and soon. All across the country, the SuperPACs are looking for campaigns that demonstrate weakness; for easy pickings.

After Saturday’s critical fundraising deadline, we’ll report our campaign’s fundraising progress – and we’ll either show strength or we’ll show weakness.

Let’s show Karl Rove and his SuperPAC pals that we’ve got grassroots strength and we’re ready to win. Will you stand with me and chip in $37 dollars today?

I’m proud of the work I’ve done for the people of Oregon. Amidst the sea of hostility and personal attacks in DC, I’ve tried every day to be a voice for common sense. I’m passionate about trying to craft creative solutions that work for all Oregonians. I’ll work with anyone across the aisle if they are willing set their partisan agendas aside.

At the same time, I’m not afraid to stand up for Oregon values and against Tea Party extremists who prefer to play politics with women’s health care and the benefits our seniors have earned. We must look for budget cuts elsewhere – ending the overseas conflict in Afghanistan, and ending wasteful subsidies and giveaways for special interests.

In little more than a week, we’re required to report our fundraising totals. It’s critical that we can show Karl Rove, the Koch Brothers, and their SuperPAC billionaire pals that my campaign has the grassroots support to beat them again. Will you chip in today?

I deeply appreciate your help. It means a lot to me to know I can count on you to have my back.

Thanks,

Kurt

p.s. Make no mistake: These SuperPAC extremists have already this year defeated thoughtful problem-solvers from both sides of the aisle. But I’m not deterred. I think that’s what Americans want and need. I hope you’ll stand with me.
